ITC SHOWS SUPPORT FOR WORLD #QURANHOUR 1442H

PUTRAJAYA, MALAYSIA, 4 MAY 2021: The month of Ramadan 1442H has entered its closing stages as Syawal approaches, and like previous years, the World #QuranHour returns on 6 May 2021 / 24 Ramadan 1442H, this time around with a focus on the chapter, Al-Mulk (Kingdom).

Islamic Tourism Centre (ITC), a strategic partner alongside the World Ummah Ikhlas Foundation (WUIF), organiser for the initiative, is showing support for the second consecutive year by playing its role to present Malaysia as a destination for Islamic tourism whilst bringing the distinctiveness of the initiative to the global arena.

Director-General of ITC, Dato’ Dr. Mohmed Razip Haji Hasan, said: “This is in line with our role as a centre of reference on Islamic Tourism and Muslim-Friendly Tourism and Hospitality (MFTH), as well as in introducing Malaysia as an Islamic Tourism destination through Islamic-based activities and programmes.”

Dato’ Dr. Mohmed Razip expressed his warmest wishes to the organisers of the initiative: “ITC is delighted to be a part of World #QuranHour once again. Our efforts to showcase the uniqueness of the event worldwide via our network of government agencies, strategic partners, institutions of higher learning, and embassies and high commissions, are befitting with ITC’s position as a point of reference for all things Islamic Tourism and Muslim-Friendly Tourism and Hospitality.”

First initiated in 2015, World #QuranHour has since evolved into an annual event, since 2016. As of 2019, it has witnessed participation from over 3,000 registered locations across Malaysia, 300 registered locations in 76 countries, and recorded 1.46 billion social media reach / engagements. 

The programme happening this Thursday is an interactive session with the Al-Quran, and aims to unravel the secrets of Surah Al-Mulk, 67: 1-30 in shaping the mindset and behaviour of successful people. To aid in the understanding of Surah Al-Mulk, readers are asked to ponder upon six questions, six answers, and three self-reminders inherent in the verses — all thought-provoking ideas that help to develop and produce an Ummah that is guided by the Quran.

ITC believes that the initiative has its distinct features in bringing Muslims closer to the Quran which alone has facets of travel, sojournment, pilgrimage, and tourism, coupled with the benevolence of Allah SWT, in His creations, such as natural attractions and historical footprints, all narrated in the form of stories.

“The teachings of the Quran are a guiding light for all Muslims as a fountain of inspiration, strength, confidence, and identity in facing unprecedented times,” Dato’ Dr. Mohmed Razip posits.  He also touched on the significance of Surah Al-Mulk: “This chapter glorifies Allah SWT’s power, the sky, the earth, the sea, all of which must be managed well whilst striving to find the wisdom behind it.”

“As we all know, the COVID-19 pandemic has put upon mankind a challenge unprecedented, be it in our physical lives or spiritual walk. While steps have been taken to contain the spread, such as closure of borders, establishment of SOPs, development of vaccines, etc., it is equally fitting for those impacted to refer to the Al-Quran and Sunnah as a resource. As Muslims, we hope the greatness of the Quran will become our compass and source of collective strength to face this challenging and difficult time,” he summed up.
