Description

Masjid Wilayah’s construction began in 1996 and was completed in 2000, symbolizing a new era for Malaysia. Initiated by Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, it is situated near the central area of Kuala Lumpur, close to the MATRADE building and Tuanku Abdul Halim Road. Officially opened in 2005 by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Tuanku Syed Sirajudin, its design was inspired by Istanbul’s Blue Mosque. It features 22 lightweight domes made of glass fiber and epoxy resin. Positioned on a hill, the mosque includes a hypostyle layout, moat, cascading waterfalls, and mosaic floors that reflect light, creating the illusion of floating on water.
